I’ve always tried to improve my battery life in Linux because its never seemed quite up to par with the performance in Windows. So I’ve gone through a long process to find any possible tweak to improve battery life. This included installed laptop-mode-tools which improved it A LOT. But most recently I’ve discovered a new tweak - which may or may not work on your hardware. This is the relevant portion of my lilo.conf:
1 2 3 4 5
I added ‘pcie_aspm=force’ to the append options and it increased my battery life by about a half hour hour. Now in my research I found depending on the hardware it may disable something, it didn’t on my Toshiba laptop, but proceed at your own risk. Thats all for today!
